Hair loss is one of the inevitable side effects of growing old. A lot of people also experience it due to hereditary problems. However, you’re no longer obligated to live with a thinning hairline. And thanks to awareness, medical advancement and inclination towards natural procedures, people prefer to try other alternatives rather than just undergoing artificial hair implantation. Here are 10 ayurvedic remedies to prevent hair loss and promote hair growth.

  1. Oiling the hair is an ancient practice, but one that is honored even now. However, plain and simple oil is not enough when you’re suffering from hair loss. Look for an oil that combines the goodness of ingredients like amla, neem, and jatamansi and massage it into your hair regularly.

  2. Bhringaraj and Brahmi oil are also used to treat hair loss. Apply the herbal oil regularly to your scalp and hair strands for three months to promote hair restoration. Amla oil is also an excellent tonic to restore hair.

  3. Apply the juice extracted from the leaves and stems of Ramdana (Amaranth) to the scalp and strands for regrowth and restoration of hair. It also adds volume to your hair.

  4. A fine paste of black pepper seeds and lime juice applied to the bald patches is a valuable home remedy. This stimulates hair follicles to regrow and hence, boosts their strength.

  5. A decoction made from neem leaves applied to the scalp prevents hair loss and works to strengthen the roots of the hair.

  6. Applying onion juice on the bald patches is proven to be quite beneficial. It stimulates the regrowth of hair follicles.

  7. Eating iron-rich dark and leafy vegetables like spinach makes hair root, follicles, and the hair strands strong.

  8. Carrots are rich in vitamin A. The hair cells are the fastest growing cells in the body, and vitamin A is essential for the cell regeneration. Daily intake of carrot juice boosts hair growth.

  9. Eat fruits rich in vitamin C, like orange and grapes, to promote the production of collagen, an essential protein required for hair and skin growth.

  10. Avoid eating packed food and aerated drinks as they contain preservatives that can harm hair roots and advance hair loss and premature greying.
