Search Icon

Meditation is a way to calm down and access a much profound understanding of oneself. It is a helpful skill that if taught at a young age can help the kids steer through life easily.

Highlights

  • Counting sheep, rainbows or kittens, is a way of clearing the mind of things

  • Humans are visual animals and visualizing a picture that brings them peace

  • Expressing Gratitude reminds us of how blessed we are

In today’s age and time, kids have no time to reflect on anything that happens to them. They are restless and impatient. Meditation is a way to calm them down. It is a way to access a much profound understanding of oneself and to the sublime power of calming, restoring, and finding a centre.

While mediation may enable one to what we call the ability to engage fully with oneself, it is difficult. Listed below are a few techniques that make meditation a little less complicated as a concept for kids

1 sheep, 2 sheep…

Counting sheep, rainbows, or kittens is a way to clear your mind off things. Focus on the counting, and start over whenever your child loses track. This will narrow their focus onto the progression of the counting as it clears all the stress and record of whatever happened all day.

Humans are visual animals. Ask your kids to paint an image that brings them peace. It can be a cookie, their friend, anyone or anything. An important part of meditation is how the meditation technique makes one feel. Ask them to identify if they like this process.

Chanting away to bliss

Gratitude reminds us of how blessed we are to have certain things in our lives that are entirely our own. Lie down in your bed with your child. Ask him/her to list down everything they are grateful for. This can be their personal mantra in life that brings them happiness and peace. Ask your child to silently repeat the mantra and allow their mind to clean the cluster.

Meditation is a personal concept. There is no correct or incorrect way of meditating, so experiment to see what works for your child.
