Search Icon

The time from October to December is very special for every Indian. Dussehra, Karwa Chauth, Laxmi Pooja, Diwali, Bhaiya Dooj, Christmas and New Year are just a few of the numerous festivals observed during this time of the year. And that means lots of feasts and delicious foods. No wonder this is the time of the year when people complain the most of indigestion. Here are 3 advices to keep your Jathargni strong and regulate your bowels.

1. 30 Minutes of Digestion Boosting Yoga - Acid reflux and bloating caused by indigestion robs the fun out of festivities. Instead of depending on antacids and gas relieving medicines, try these simple yogasanas for digestion . Dhanurasana, Bhujangasana and Ardha Matsyasana work wonders in digesting food and boosting appetite.

2. Digestive Herbs & Spices - Ginger, cumin and coriander promotes digestion and keeps the gastrointestinal tract functioning properly. Take a fresh piece of ginger and some coriander leaves. Blend it and mix in a glass of lukewarm water. Add a pinch of rock salt. Sip this powerful gut health drink on an empty stomach in the morning.

3. Minor Changes in Your Lifestyle - Your body needs time to create digestive enzymes and gastric juices to digest food. Adopt these simple changes in your lifestyle:

  • Eat in regular intervals and in small amounts.
  • Do not eat if you feel bloated and heavy. Eating slow allows you to savour the food and release digestive juices in saliva, which aids in digestion. If you do not feel hungry, a humble refusal to eat will save you from the discomfort of indigestion.
  • Avoid eating late at night, ideally, your last heavy meal should not be later than 8 P.M and avoid going to bed immediately after taking a heavy supper.
