Ama tends to be sticky, slimy, and hard to get rid of. However, by sipping on warm water throughout the day, we can dissolve them in a way that is natural and comfortable. Add 3-5 grams of Jiva Aam Pachak Churna to get the added benefits of a healthy gut, good appetite and strong digestion.
Simply boiling water for 10 minutes before drinking it kindles the agni (digestive fire). This allows for more effective digestion as the food is processed better during its consumption. If drunk between meals, it also cleanses the toxins from the dhatus (bodily tissues).
Drinking warm water aggravates the agni, which helps regulate the digestive system and speed up the metabolism. This makes it easier for the body to break down food without unnecessarily storing it as fat. Add some lemon wedges, honey or ginger to the water for additional taste and benefits. The sour taste of the lemon acts against the Kapha dosha, causing a decrease in body fat. Ginger also acts on the Kapha dosha to decrease it and relieves gas and bloating.
It is important to drink loads of lukewarm water when you’re suffering from a cold or cough. This is because it balances the cold and dry properties of the aggravated Vata dosha with its warm and hydrating properties. It also hydrates the mucus membrane, loosening the accumulation of phlegm and mucus, and clearing the nasal passage.
