5 Lifestyle Tips to Balance Vata for Beautiful Hair

Search Icon

Having thick, healthy hair enhances your beauty and fetches you many compliments. However, when your body’s doshas are not balanced, your hair can become rough and dull.

Vata Hair Properties

Vata type hair is naturally thin with quick growth. Due to the unpredictable nature of vata, your hair can grow straight but become curly and unruly as it grows longer. Vata imbalance causes dryness and depletion of nutrients which leads to dry hair resulting in split ends and frizzy hair. The scalp also becomes dry and flaky due to lack of natural oils.

This makes it very difficult to take care of and style vata hair and people generally start using sprays or gel, which can lead to further damage. But we’ve got a few tips up our sleeves that will help care for your vata hair.

Ayurveda Care For Vata Hair

  • Have a vata pacifying diet that includes spinach, pumpkin, green beans, mango and papaya. Wheat, rice, split mung dal, red lentils (masoor dal) also balance vata.

  • Apply Bhringraj oil on hair and leave it on for 30 minutes before showering. Herbal body massage (abhyanga) with warm oil is recommended.

  • Use a gentle and nourishing shampoo like Almond Shampoo to promote hair growth and have lustrous hair.

  • Meditate to reduce stress as that also affects your hair’s health.

  • Avoid showering with hot water as it weakens the hair, causing hair fall, dry hair, and split ends.

Make these simple modifications to your lifestyle and you will very soon have thick, lustrous hair that makes everyone envious. Won’t that be something now!
