Milk has amazing benefits for your body and mind. Rich in Vitamin A, B and D, it has omega fatty acids, calcium, and is protein rich. It also helps strengthen the dhatus (tissues) of the body and build our reserve of ojas (immunity).
It beats chronic weakness, sleepiness and exhaustion.
Milk eases joint or muscle pain. It even helps with diseases like osteoporosis.
Milk strengthens the Majja Dhatu (tissues of the nervous system) and it can palliate mental issues that are caused by vata.
Milk is a great natural remedy for constipation as it pacifies the aggravated vata dosha.
Weak memory can also be strengthened by milk.
Have milk at night, because Ayurveda recommends resting after drinking milk to allow it to digest.
Never drink milk cold. Warm it up a little bit before drinking.
Add half a spoon of haldi to milk to reap its tri-doshic qualities.
If you have a dominant kapha, add some adrak (ginger), elaichi (cardamom) and dalchini (cinnamon) to boiled milk. These herbs will pacify kapha and ensure that the milk doesn’t aggravate it.
Avoid milk with any salty or sour foods.
