Ayurvedic Advice For a Trouble-free & Healthy Pregnancy

Pregnancy is one of the most rewarding times in a woman’s life, while also being one the most challenging because of the changes your body undergoes to accommodate the baby growing inside you. Here is some Ayurvedic advice to make your pregnancy easier.

1. Flush out excess ama:

Your body consumes more energy during this time, causing your blood sugar levels to drop. One way to avoid this is to ensure your body is free of excess ama (toxins). You can do this through ginger and cinnamon, both of which are great to flush out toxins from the body. You can add ginger and cinnamon to your food while cooking it, or brew a herbal tea using them.

2. Follow an Ayurvedic diet:

Lack of proper nutrients also contributes to varicose veins, constipation, anaemia, haemorrhoids, and skin discolouration; hence, it is important to ensure that you get all your nutrients during this time. You can do this by eating a wide range of fruits and vegetables, both cooked and raw. While you should include all the rasas (tastes) in your diet, it is particularly recommended to eat foods with naturally sweet, salty and sour tastes.

3. Balance the doshas:

The change and expansion happening within the body lead to vata aggravation, heightened metabolism causes pitta aggravation, and increased body weight results in kapha aggravation. Following a sattvik diet rich in prana (life force) with fresh fruits and vegetables can balance the tridosha and ensure you have a trouble-free pregnancy.
