Wake Up and Sleep On Time:
Go to bed during the Kapha time of the night, i.e. 6 PM to 10 PM and wake up before Kapha time, i.e. 6 AM and 10 AM. This sleep pattern helps the mother maintain energy, vitality, and alertness. Also, try to avoid naps during the daytime, except during hot and long summer months.
Abhyanga:
Begin your day with a full-body self-massage. Apply warm sesame oil with an open palm using long strokes along the long bones and circular strokes on the joints. Massage the abdomen gently. Massaging of the nipples is recommended after the 4th month. After abhyanga, take a warm water bath. It helps to open the channel of circulation.
Eat Healthy:
The best diet for expecting mothers is the one that is sattvic in nature, comprising of pure, easily digestible foods, like rice, milk, ghee, wheat, fruits, grains, and fresh vegetables. This kind of diet nourishes the dhatus of the mother and the baby.
End Your Day Well:
Give yourself a good foot massage. It helps to balance Vata and maintains blood circulation through the body. Use warm sesame or almond oil. It helps to prevent stagnation of toxins.
