Who doesn’t love a delicious and cooling sherbet on a sunny afternoon or after a long tiring day? And if that sherbet has the added benefit of pacifying and balancing our doshas, what better? Try these two Ayurvedic Sherbets that are loaded with both taste and health.
Sattu is rich in fibre and aids in digestion. This recipe is perfect for two people.
Sattu (roasted gram) flour - 3 tbsp
Chilled Water - 2 glasses (500 ml)
Lemon - 1
Crushed Mint (pudina) - 8 leaves
Black Salt (kaala namak) - ¾ tsp
Cumin powder (jeera)- ½ tsp
Black Pepper (kaali mirch)- a pinch
Salt- ¼ tsp
Combine the sattu flour and water together in a large bowl.
Add the lemon juice, mint leaves, black salt, cumin powder, black pepper powder and salt.
Pour into glasses, add cubes and garnish with mint leaves. Enjoy!
Fennel seeds enhance digestive agni without aggravating pata, making it good for digestion. This recipe serves two.
Fennel Seed Powder (saunf)- ¼ cup
Powdered Rock Sugar (mishri)- 2 ½ tbsp
Water- 2 ½ cups
Crushed Clove (elaichi)- 1
Soak the fennel seeds and clove in the water overnight.
Strain the water the next day, and add the powdered mishri to the drink.
Pour into glasses topped with ice cubes and enjoy!
