Search Icon

Sadhaka Pitta, a sub-dosha of pitta dosha governs the sound heart and mind. Therefore it’s important sadhaka pitta in check to live a healthy and content life.

Highlights

  • According to Ayurveda, Heart is the seat of the consciousness and sadhaka pitta is the caretaker of heart.

  • A weak Sadhaka pitta leads to a weak mind and body.

Charaka Samhita says “hridaya chetana sathanam” i.e. the heart is the home of consciousness, and Sadhaka pitta is it’s caretaker. Any emotional imbalance or negative impressions can aggravate sadhaka pitta and eventually affect your heart and mind. Depression, rage, anxiety, negative thoughts, insufficient sleep, and restlessness are considered symptoms of a weak sadhaka pitta. Together, they are known as Manasika Roga in sanskrit, or mental distress in English. Without a strong sadhaka pitta, you have weak dhi (Ability to learn), dhriti (Ability to retain information), and smriti (Ability to recall).

Here are some practices that help balance the sadhaka pitta

  • Practice pranayama and yoga everyday. This balances all the doshas and promotes a still mind. Meditate for 20 minutes in the morning after waking up and 20 minutes before retiring to bed, everyday.

  • Be close to nature. Spending time in a lush, green place can take away all negative thoughts and energy. Going out for half an hour of morning walk or enjoying the view of a rising or setting sun is highly beneficial for the mind. These gentle activities and exercise will stimulate proper digestion, cleansing, and happy thoughts.

  • Eat fresh, wholesome food. Avoid processed, packaged, frozen food, and refined sugar. These foods only weaken the digestive agni and produce ama. Instead, go for fresh and lightly cooked food that build Ojas and strengthens the mind, body, and soul. Focus on pitta balancing food like green leafy vegetables and juicy fruits.

  • Wake up before sunrise. Waking up after 6am clogs the srotas (channels of the body), which leads to foggy mind, low energy, and negative mood.

  • Go to bed by 10pm. This will give you feeling of rested and energetic which is essential for long-lasting contentment. 10 pm to 2 pm is considered pitta time, and that’s when you get the most sounded sleep. Therefore avoid TV or any other gadgets and heavy eating before bed.

At the end, it important to spend time with people who are happy, respectful, uplifting, and spiritual. To know more about a healthy lifestyle consult a Jiva doctor, today.
