Remember those peaceful childhood days of colouring with no worries whatsoever? What if we told you that even as an adult, it’s beneficial for us to pick up those crayons and doodle away?

Yes, its true!

Countless studies have found that the simple act of colouring helps us let go of our worries and stress and detaches us from our thoughts. Ayurveda, too, supports this as shown by the fact that using different colours actually helps soothe our doshas. Each color has a different vibration, which possesses therapeutic properties that help pacify dosha aggravations.

Here’s a quick guide to the colors you should use according to your body’s constitution:

Kapha

People with dominant kapha tend to be lethargic and a little dull at times. That’s why they do great with bright and lively colours such as reds, oranges, and gold.

Pitta

While kapha people struggle with being too calm, pitta dominants are placed at the other end of the spectrum. Hotheaded and restless, they do brilliantly with cooling colours such as pastels and all shades of blue and green.

Vata

An imbalanced vata can result in anxiety and fear. For this, vata dominants are served best by warm soothing colours such as golds, yellows, oranges and deep reds for their stimulating properties and whites and blues for their soothing effects. Vatas should avoid purples.
