Essential Oils: The Natural Addition to Your Skin Care & Beauty Routine

Essential oils are great for your skin. Ayurveda has used it in many of its preparations, medicines, face packs, and tinctures. Here’s a list of essential oils that you can add to your beauty routine

Word of advice: Never use essential oils directly on the skin. Add 2 to 5 drops of essential to coconut oil before application. You can also add it to your bath water.

  • Lavender Essential Oil restores complexion, reduces acne, and prevents sun spots and scarring. Its high antioxidant levels also slow down skin ageing. The oil penetrates into skin pores and kills bacteria, preventing and healing breakouts. It can be used by all skin types. Dilute in coconut oil and apply after a bath.

  • Rose Essential Oil is good for dry or ageing skin. Its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties promote healing and improve skin texture and tone. It is also beneficial in managing skin conditions like dermatitis and psoriasis.

  • Tea Tree Essential Oil is ideal for acne-prone skin. Its antibacterial properties prevent acne-causing bacteria. It regulates oil production reducing breakouts. Mix 2 drops with 15 drops of jojoba oil. Apply on acne, wounds, scars or stretch marks for good results.

  • Geranium Essential Oil regulates oil production and reduce acne breakouts. It improves skin elasticity and tightens the skin, reducing wrinkles.

  • Neroli Essential Oil is ideal for oily, sensitive and mature skin. It helps in cell regeneration and prevents fine lines and sagging skin. It can also prevent and reduce stretch marks. The antiseptic properties balance oil production and shrinks pores without drying the skin.
