Ever felt a sudden pain in your chest? Such pain can be short-lived or have an eventual build-up followed by a longer lasting pain. Either way, it could be caused by something as innocent as acidity or as serious as a heart problem or lung infection. So it’s important not to ignore it and get a check-up from a doctor the moment you start experiencing these pains.
According to Ayurveda, chest pain is caused by an imbalance of vata, which causes the channels to get blocked, leading to these pain. To correct this, you should eat a vata pacifying diet. Foods that pacify vata are those that have opposite qualities to that of the dosha. Since, vata is cold, dry, light and rough, you should eat a diet of moist, warm, and soft foods like all dairy products, grains, and fruits.
Since heart issues are a probable cause of chest pain, you should work on keeping your cholesterol in check. Avoid all fatty and oily foods and incorporate daily workouts in your life.
Have a teaspoon of grounded garlic clove and some honey every morning on empty stomach every day. Garlic helps to keep cholesterol under control and to cleanse the blood while honey is good for both heart and lung health.
Have a glass of warm milk with 1 tsp of haldi before going to bed to balance vata and reap the anti-inflammatory benefits of haldi.
While these home remedies might ease the pain, you should speak to a Jiva doctor for a more detailed analysis of the situation. You can dial 0129-4040404 from your mobile phone or click on ‘Speak to a Doctor’ under the CONNECT tab in the Jiva Health App.
