Mind maps are an amazing and simple way to help your child remember concepts. Mind maps are pictorial representation of information. They are centered around a theme, and may contain words, ideas, and other items that are linked by branches stemming from the key concept.
Helps connect the different concepts
Classifies information in an orderly manner
Assists with memorizing content accurately
Solves problems
Facilitates in depth brainstorming for a topic
Helps make the right decisions
Start by giving a blank piece of paper to your child.
Ask him/her to write the keyword or the main topic in the centre of the page
He should then identify the connecting points or the sub points.
Draw branches radiating outward from the main topic and put the sub points at the end of the branches.
You can even create smaller branches for each of the sub points for further sub-division.
Mind maps can be used as effective revision tool. It can also be used to explain a concept clearly. Encourage your child to enjoy mind mapping by using coloured sketch pens and by creating interesting designs to make the idea more visibly appealing.
