Old age is accompanied by weakened memory. However, Ayurveda herbs help you keep your memory sharp.

Highlights:

  • Weak memory affects especially old people.

  • Ayurvedic herbs like ashwagandha, brahmi, shankhpushpi help your brain remain active and memory sharp.

It isn’t unusual for us to forget things. However, with age, our memory is considerably weakened. Ayurveda suggests the use of these herbs to keep your memory sharp.

  • Ashwagandha balances elevated vata which is a common problem as one ages. It is a slow acting herb and takes about a week to show appropriate results, and about another week for the herb to be fully effective.

Take about 1 gram of this herb every day, and can be taken over long periods of time to rejuvenate your mind.

  • Brahmi is known not only to improve physical strength and complexion but it also supports healthy memory, concentration, and intelligence. Brahmi is a salad vegetable and can be eaten in larger quantities.

Drink 1–4 tsp of fresh brahmi juice every morning or 1 gram per day in capsules or tablets for daily rejuvenation. You can also have a cup of brahmi/gotu kola tea with honey.

  • Shankhapushpi is known for its calming properties. It brings mental peace and tranquility. Due to its balancing nature, it can be uplifting and calming. Students use it to remain calm during exams.

To improve focus and attention, it is combined with brahmi and licorice for optimum results. It is often taken with or prepared in ghee. To have healthy sleep patterns, use 4-6 gms of shankhapushpi at bedtime.
