Before you begin the process of creating a new life, understand this. You have the responsibility of ensuring that the new life has a bright future and good health. Even people who follow a healthy lifestyle and eat healthy have some toxins in their body.
Toxins are not good for a foetus, hence, Ayurveda recommends that a couple, both husband and wife, must undergo a complete cleanse before planning for a child. Here are the three steps of cleansing advised by Ayurveda experts.
This is done to cleanse body (Sharira). The physical cleanse serves to clear toxins (ama) and excess doshas so that the channels flow freely and the toxins do not inhibit the proper functioning of any tissue. Eat an easy-to-digest and well-cooked food. Avoid processed food, caffeine products, and packaged items as much as possible. Include abhyanga and basic yoga practice in your dincharya.
It is to cleanse your mind and senses (Mann). Give yourself at least three months, so that you prepare yourself emotionally for parenthood. In these months, allow yourself to cleanse any past hurt or resentment in your relationship or within yourself. Together with your partner, commit to getting rid of falls habits and beliefs so that your child can be welcomed in a healthier and more supportive atmosphere.
It is to cleanse soul (Atma). Also, during this period free yourself from any dysfunctionalities within - anger, agony, greed, attachment, or excess pride and ego. To do so, begin your with the affirmation: “I am free of any bondage from the past. I have the opportunity to be born new every moment. Lord, give me the strength to cleanse and be free so that I may offer my highest self to the child that is to come.”
