The Sweet Road to Weight Loss - Honey & Cinnamon

Weight management is a major concern for a lot of people, and they try almost every tip and trick in the book to keep those extra kilos off their body. From fad diets to miracle products to spending hours in the gym, people do a lot of things to stay slim and svelte.

Amidst all your efforts, why don’t you give Ayurveda also a chance? Include these two ‘sweet’ ingredients into your day to day diet and enjoy their properties that aid weight loss.

Honey

Ayurvedic Properties:

Kapha & vata dosha har, shwas kasa har, medho har, kushtagama, and vrana ropan

According to Ayurveda, honey subsides aggravated kapha, which is a predominant cause of weight gain. It’s also known to speed up the metabolism and get rid of excess fat owing to its lekhan properties

Cinnamon

Ayurvedic properties:

Dipan, vedanastapak, pachan, rajyakshma nashak, uttejak

Cinnamon is considered one of the superfoods of Ayurveda, it helps burn extra calories by boosting the agni (digestive fire) and speeding up the metabolism.

How to use:

a) Have 1tsp honey with cinnamon powder every morning.

b) Mix honey with ginger juice or powder and have it as soon as you wake up

c) Drink honey with lemon juice and warm water every morning. You can also add cinnamon powder for added benefit.

d) Add cinnamon to your food preparations, like dals and curries.

e) Use cinnamon as garnish on your salads and desserts.

f) You can also drink cinnamon water throughout the day

Word of advice:

a) Never boil or heat honey

b) Never ghee and honey in equal proportions
