The root of the issue
Ayurveda believes in going to the root of the problem. According to Ayurveda, an excess of Pitta Dosha in the body is the principal cause for hair issues. What causes an increase in the Pitta Dosha? The factors are hot climatic conditions, eating oily and acidic food, excessive consumption of spicy, salty, or sour food, hot beverages like coffee and tea, alcohol, meats, and smoking habits.
There are other reasons as well such as hormonal imbalances, old age, stress, the effect of certain drugs, etc.
How do you address the issue?
Identify the root cause of the increase in the Pitta Dosha. It is connected to your diet and lifestyle. Since you have located the problem, you should not find it difficult to solve it. Following these three simple rules can help you get rid of hair loss.
Have a proper diet (Ahar):
Adopting a high protein and iron rich diet can replenish the loss of keratin, the protein responsible for having healthy hair. Include raw vegetables, fresh fruits, salads, and green vegetables in your diet. You can have Pitta balancing herbs like asparagus (Shatavari) and bitter vegetables in your diet.
Take the necessary treatment (Chikitsa):
There are Ayurvedic medicines like Thikthakam Kashayam and Thikthakam Ghritham to give you relief. You can also consume Narasimha Rasayanam and Chyavana Prasam for improving hair growth. Oiling and massaging your hair is also an aspect of treatment. Use medicated oils like Neelibhringadi Oil or Kunthalakanthi Oil and massage it gently into the roots of the hair.
Physical Exercises (Vyayam):
Simple physical exercises like rubbing your scalp after washing your hair can activate the sebaceous glands. Regular bowel movement is of utmost importance. You can resort to using laxatives like Triphala to avoid constipation.
There are many more treatment measures in Ayurveda that can help in bringing long-lasting relief from hair fall. However, these three rules namely Ahar, Chikitsa, and Vyayam can certainly help in balancing the Pittas thereby addressing the root cause of the problem.
