Triphala has been shown to benefit in the treatment of diabetes. It helps stimulate the pancreas, thus promoting insulin secretion. In a recent study, it was demonstrated that triphala greatly reduces blood glucose level and is known to have compounds that cause insulin-stimulated glucose uptake without converting the glucose in fat and storing in cells. Below are some simple methods of consuming triphala:
-
Eating Bibhitaki Churna approximately equal to two fruits just before the meal. Eat Amalaki Churna equal to four fruits just after a meal. Follow it with Haritaki Churna of one fruit three hours after a meal.
-
Take triphala churna and new iron vessel. Mix the churna with water to form a paste. Apply the paste in an iron vessel and leave it on for 24 hours. Next, collect the churna (5-10 gms), add honey (10-20 gms) and water (250ml) and drink this concoction on an empty stomach every morning.
Triphala powder tablets or capsule dosages are not appropriate and should be avoided. Whenever possible, consume triphala extract in its crude form as it is safer and more beneficial. Other than diabetes, triphala is also beneficial for constipation, losing weight, reducing belly fat, and indigestion problems.
