A smoothie is a convenient way to get a lot of nutrients in one go. It has almost been declared as a post-workout essential. Our body treats workout the same way it treats stress. The heart rate increases, the muscles kick-start into working more than usual, and the Agni decreases. The body also does not immediately calm down. Hence, people are of the opinion that a protein smoothie is the healthiest way to recover from a workout session.
But, most smoothie recipes instructions include combining foods that collectively counter the ingredient’s individual benefit. Written below is Ayurveda’s take on smoothies
What to keep in mind when making an ayurvedic smoothie
-
Avoid frozen ingredients and ice as they extinguish Agni. Instead opt for foods, spices, and herbs that stimulate your Agni. For example- turmeric (haldi), ginger (adrak), cardamon (elaichi), cinnamon (dalchini)
-
Avoid mixing dairy products. Individually, they work best but collectively, they’re not the best combination.
-
Use foods that help you rebuild your ojas. A strong ojas means a healthy and fast recovery from any stressful situations.
