Ayurveda Tips to Replenish Ojas & Enjoy a Healthy Sex Life

Search Icon

Ayurveda believes sex to be one of the four basic needs of humans. Sex, when done properly, demands a lot of energy and also depletes Ojas - the life force that is the essence of vitality and immunity. For this reason, practitioners of Ayurveda believe Vajikarana therapy to be as important as rejuvenation therapy. In fact, Charak Samhita states that with the proper use of Vajikarana therapies, individuals can become endowed with potency, strength, and good physique.

If you, too, would like to gain this type of virility, follow these tips that will help you replenish your ojas and increase your sexual endurance.

Herbal support:

Some primary virility herbs like ashwagandha, shatavari, kapikacchu, vidari, and licorice are revitalising for the male reproductive system. These herbs promote fertility and vitality. Shatavari encourages the healthy production of semen in males and nourishes ovum and other sex organs in females. Vidari is a strengthening aphrodisiac that supports fertility and vitality in both the sexes.

Special Milk:

Ayurveda views milk as a strengthening supplement that develops your overall immunity. According to Ayurveda, milk that is whole, organic, and from grass-fed cows is the best-suited to health. It’s essential to incorporate milk in your daily diet. Also, drink a glass of warm milk after intercourse to replenish your energies and boost the production of ojas in the body.

Virility-producing Food:

Diet plays a very important role and is an essential component of Vajikarana therapy. Special foods that are ojas-enhancing are ghee, almonds, dates, and sesame oil. Vata pacifying food like fresh curd, pulses, and root vegetables help strengthen immunity and virility.

Mind your vata:

Vata, when imbalanced, can decrease your endurance and stamina, so it’s important to keep it in check. Follow a proper dinacharya as prescribed by Ayurveda, get plenty of sleep, and make a conscious effort to stay focused and be present in the now. Practising Abhyanga (self-oiling) with herbal oils such as ashwagandha-bala or bhringraj in a sesame oil base, helps calm Vata.
