All of us have a first aid box at our home. It is equipped with all sorts of antiseptic creams, antacids, pain-killing drugs, etc. But what if you could pick supplements from your kitchen cabinet?
Here are simple Ayurvedic remedies that can be extremely effective as first aid for many common ailments. Take a look:
Burns
Immediately after running the affected area through cold water, apply a paste of fresh aloe vera gel with a pinch of turmeric powder. Once the initial sting subsides apply a little ghee or coconut oil with rose and sandalwood to enhance the cooling effect.
Cuts and External Bleeding
Apply a paste of honey and turmeric. Both of these are antiseptic and will help the wound heal really fast. Also, drinking a cup of warm milk with half a teaspoon of turmeric and a pinch of saffron (kesar) mixed into it will help to heal and relieve the pain.
Headaches
It is often a sign of dehydration, so increase your water intake. For a temporal headache, apply a paste of dry ginger to the forehead and lie down for about 8-10 minutes, remove the paste and take some rest.
Diarrhoea
Take powdered mango seed (aamchur) with honey twice a day. Drink a mix of dry ginger, nutmeg (jaiphal) rock salt and jaggery (gur). It’s very effective in cases of loose motions caused by indigestion.
Boils
Make a paste of ginger (1 tsp) and turmeric (1 tsp) and apply it on the boils. This will help suppress the boils without leaving any mark.
