Ayurveda defines shirahshool (headaches) as a condition that may be caused by stress, emotional strain, high blood pressure, insomnia, or constipation. If you’re suffering from constant headaches, diet could be a major factor. For this reason, a right diet can help reduce headaches to a considerable extent.
Avoid fried, spicy, cold, dry, pickled, and smoked foods
Do not have pineapples, bananas, citrus fruits, plums, peas, raspberries, chocolates, yoghurt, and cheese.
Regular intake of milk and sweet food is avoided.
Having coconut water is highly recommended.
Light foods like vegetable juices, boiled vegetable cooked without oil, soups and also fruits like apples, grapes, pears, mangos, fruit juices should be consumed regularly.
Rice, salads, and buttermilk is recommended
Nuts can be consumed in small amounts.
In India, the Ayurveda medicinal system is based on herbs. The following herbal remedies can also help in reducing headaches.
Put 2-3 drops of sesame(til) / mustard (sarso) into each nostril and inhale deeply.
Have 1 tsp of honey infused in a glass of warm water every morning on an empty stomach
Medicated clove (laung) oil or medicated menthol oil massages can be soothing
