Healthy Urine and Healthy Body: What is the Connection?

Search Icon

A healthy person usually passes mutra (urine) between four to six times a day (1.4 litres). But if you have problems like excessive production of urine or too little production of urine, it could be indicative of imbalance in your body.

Highlights

  • If you are urinating way more than normal quantity, you may experience, excessive thirst and dryness in the mouth.

  • Having curd, buttermilk, and spices like jeera, saunf, and dalchini can help with excessive urination.

  • If the quantity of urine passed in less than the normal amount, you may suffer painful and burning urination.

  • To urinate more, drink barley water, coconut water, and sugarcane juice.

As the end-product of body metabolism, malas (body wastes- stool, urine, sweat) are generated. Accumulation of mala in the body leads to ama (toxins) production, resulting in various health issues and diseases that's why it's important to take ayurvedic treatment for urinary tract infection to get rid of it

If the malas are not evacuated from the body in a timely manner, they can be reabsorbed and then circulated in the body through rakta dhatu. In addition, if you suppress this natural urge of elimination of malas, it may lead to discomfort, irritation, and pressure in the srotas (channels) as well as organs connected to them.

Mutra (Urine)

A healthy person usually passes mutra (urine) between four to six times a day (1.4 litres). And suppression of the necessity to pass urine can lead to infection in the urinary tract, bladder, or/and urethra.

However, if the quantity of urine passed in less than the normal amount, you may experience pain in the bladder and urinary tract, painful and burning urination, darker yellow urine, swelling in feet, ankles, and face.

  • To prevent that from happening, increase your water intake. Also take diuretics that have sweet, salty and sour tastes.

  • Also, incorporate barley water, coconut water, and sugarcane juice in your daily liquid intake.

  • If all precautions and remedies don’t work, consult a doctor as problems in urination may be a sign of a kidney-related problem.

If you are urinating way more than normal, you may experience discomfort in the bladder, weakness and pain in the legs, excessive thirst, and dryness in the mouth. Incorporating the following dietary habits will help you regulate frequent urination.

  • Include curd and buttermilk in your daily diet.

  • Use spices like cumin (jeera), fennel (saunf) seeds, jaggery (gur), cinnamon (dalchini) and fenugreek (methi) seeds in daily cooking
