Suffering from Joint Pains? Try Panchakarma for Relief

Search Icon

Panchakarma, the specialised line of Ayurvedic therapies, is one of the most effective means of treating chronic pains. A collection of holistic rejuvenation therapies, Panchakarma aims to detoxify the body and revitalise the entire system, thereby providing sustainable relief to the patient.

In Arthritis Patients...

The detoxification effect of Panchakarma treatments can be effectively used to manage pain. Because Arthritis is a degenerative disease, rejuvenation should be an important part of the treatment process. A combination of various mind-body healing techniques will help cleanse toxins from the body and clear the blockage in channels. This will lead to proper movement of Vata (which is the prime cause of Arthritic pains), thereby bringing the patient's condition closer to curability.

Benefits of Panchakarma:

  • Eliminates toxins from the body
  • Relieves body pains and aches
  • Strengthens the immune system
  • Restores constitutional balance, improving health and wellness
  • Reverses the negative effects of stress on the body and mind
  • Improves strength, vitality and mental clarity
  • Enhances the potency of medicines

Recommended Panchakarma Procedures for Arthritis Patients

Vasti (Medicated Enema)

This therapy is aimed at the removal of excess body waste and toxins from the colon. It nourishes and rebuilds the body tissues, strengthening their function and restoring the body's immunity. It is also useful in cleansing the channels and ensuring proper circulation of air in the body, thereby giving relief from joint pains.

Abhyanga (Full Body Massage)

This massage therapy fosters pacification of Vata and detachment of toxins from the deeper tissues. A regular Abhyanga protects an individual from stress, exhaustion and Vata-related disorders. It nourishes the body, enhances sleep, provides better physical stability and serves as a great means of relaxation for the entire body.

Potli (Poultice Massage)

This massage with medicated herbal juice acts as a painkiller, relaxes the muscles, and gives relief from aggravated Vata. The herbal potlis (tiny linen buns) used in this process are prepared with a combination of herbs and medicated powders. These are then warmed in medicated oils and used to massage the entire body. This treatment is very effective for osteoarthritis, spondylitis, and for relieving joint pains, muscle cramps and stress.

Pizhichil (Rich Oil Massage)

This invigorating therapy is an excellent cure for alleviating pains. Highly recommended in rheumatic diseases and joint pains, Pizhichil protects the body from illnesses and builds up immunity for a healthy life. When the whole body is subjected to streams of lukewarm medicated oil with simultaneous soft massage, it relieves tension, provides peace of mind and checks stress and strain.

Svedana (Steam Bath)

This procedure is highly recommended for treatment of painful muscles and joints, arthritis, gout and backache. It helps soften the body channels, remove toxins, and dilate body channels.
