But sharp memory skills aren’t something that people are born with. The more memorization skills are used, the more they improve.
Backward Build up Memorization Technique
The backwards build up memorization technique can help your child memorize better. It is perfect for children who struggle with learning long sentences. They usually repeat the first two parts correctly but stumble on the third. This technique should help with that.
-
To implement the backward buildup method, begin by reading the first sentence out loud (E.g. Sharp memory skills are a must-have to succeed.)
-
Use a natural stress and intonation pattern for the sentence.
-
Start at the end. Recite the last word of the sentence and repeat until memorized (E.g. Succeed)
-
Follow it up by adding the second last word of the sentence and reciting it until learned. (E.g. To succeed)
-
Recite the third last word of the sentence, followed by the last two. (E.g. must-have to succeed)
-
Continue in this manner until your child has reached the beginning of the sentence and has learned it entirely.
Help your child practice the backward build up technique and very soon, you’ll see them memorizing long speeches and even dialogues for play without any trouble at all.
