The combination of ginger and lime juice expels gas and pacifies vata
Suffering from heartburn, bloating, and frequent bouts of burping and belching? Well, you can blame it all on indigestion. Ayurveda terms indigestion as ajirn or agnimandya. The ancient wisdom states that body’s Agni is responsible for a good digestive system. And when we consume overly rich food with too many oils and cold drinks, it douses the digestive fire and causes indigestion.
So how do you plan on keeping your digestive fire burning efficiently to avoid discomfort? By adopting the preventive measures and remedies mentioned below.
Lime juice
Use a fresh lime; squeeze a quarter of its juice into a cup of lukewarm water. Add ½ tsp. of powdered black pepper (kali mirch), ½ tsp. of dhania powder, ½ tsp. of jeera seeds and black salt to taste in lukewarm water. This remedy works for severe indigestion as it clears up the blocked passages.
Garlic
Chop up one clove of garlic and sprinkle it with a pinch of salt and eat it. The pungent heat of garlic will stimulate your gastric juices and give relief from gas and ingestion.
Ginger + lime juice
Take 1 tsp of fresh ginger pulp and mix it with a tsp. of lime juice. Drink this right after eating. Ginger is a powerful herb and helps prevent or expel gas.
